چکیده

It is shown that the dielectric properties of interaction site models of polar fluids can be investigated in computer experiment using not only the charge fluctuations but also correlations corresponding to a current of moving charges. This current can be associated with a generalized dynamical polarization or separated into electric and magnetic components. The first approach deals with the dielectric permittivity related to a generalized conductivity, whereas the second one leads to the functions describing polarization and magnetization fluctuations separately. The last way is only the source to calculate the magnetic susceptibility for a system of interaction sites. The transverse wavevectorand frequency-dependent dielectric functions and magnetic susceptibility are evaluated for the TIP4P water model in a very wide scale of wavelengths and frequencies using molecular dynamics simulations. We demonstrate that the transverse part of the dielectric functions may differ drastically from their longitudinal component. A relationship between the two approaches is discussed and the limiting transition to the static dielectric constant in the infinite-wavelength regime is analyzed. The propagation of transverse electromagnetic waves in the TIP4P water is also considered. ∗E-mail: [email protected]

Longitudinal wavevector- and frequency-dependent dielectric constant of the TIP4P water model

A computer adapted theory for self-consistent calculations of the wavevectorand frequency-dependent dielectric constant for interaction site models of polar systems is proposed. It is shown that values for the dielec...

Study of leaky dielectric droplet behavior under an electric field: effect of viscosity and electric conductivity ratios

In this research, hydrodynamic behavior of a leaky dielectric droplet under an electric field is simulated. The level set method is used for interface tracking and the ghost fluid method is used for modeling discontinuous quantities at interface. Using Taylor’s leaky dielectric model, electric field and electric force at the interface is calculated. Simulation results show the droplet deformati...

Wavevector- and frequency-dependent shear viscosity of water: the modified collective mode approach and molecular dynamics calculations

The transverse momentum time autocorrelation functions and wavevectorand frequency-dependent shear viscosity are calculated for an interaction site model of water using a modified collective mode approach and molecular dynamics simulations. The modified mode approach is based on a formulation which consistently takes into account non-Markovian effects into the kinetic memory kernels. As is demo...

Dielectric relaxation in dipolar fluids . Generalized mode approach

The concept of generalized collective modes, recently proposed for the investigation of simple fluids, is now applied to describe processes of di-electric relaxation in dipolar systems. The approach presented here is an extension of the dipole-density formalism to arbitrary numbers of dynami-cal variables and values of wavelengths. Generalized dipolar mode spectra of a Stockmayer fluid are eval...

Investigation of Charged Particles Radiation Moving in a Homogeneous Dispersive Medium (TECHNICAL NOTE)

In this work, we use Drude-Lorents model description to study the radiation of a charged particles moving in a homogeneous dispersive medium. A suitable quantized electromagnetic field for such medium is utilized to obtain proper equations for energy loss of the particle per unit length. The energy loss is separately calculated for transverse and longitudinal components of the filed operators. ...
